Concept Selection

After all the process, we manage to generate the concept to be implemented to our security system. We simplified concept selection by using Concept Combination Table.

From the above table, we generate two best possibilities for the concept of the security system.

1st possibility:

The 1st possibility is more compatible and affordable, which parallel with customer need. However for the 2nd option, this will lead to highly efficient and will be too costly for the system. Therefore, we decided to choose the 1st option to develop our security system.

Development of Objective Tree


While developing the objective tree, we manage to have three levels which in the end lead us to construct Functional structure

Development of Functional Structure


Functional structure for our system, will have two king of input, fire and theft. The ouput from the system consist of sound, information and image. The input are the signals from two king of sensor, this will be determined in the next stage. The ouput device are video camera, information screen and buzzer/siren.

With the templete, it is easy to understand and to fill in the Customer requirement, measurable engineering requirement and compared with competitors product as bench mark.

Week 3 & 4 - Specification Development

Report for 2nd meeting -

1 - During the meeting, we decided to gather information from potential customer what they expected from the Alarm Security System product.

2 - We developed a set of question. The set of question is posted below

3 - After this, we will continue with interview to the target group.


From the interview results, we make analysis

• Majority (90%) assert that they are aware about the security system that is currently used by Kulliyyah.
• Majority (63%) agree that the current security system is not effective.
• Majority (60%) claim that they have experienced/heard case(s) of robbery inside Kulliyah.
• Majority (93%) agree on the application of Alarm Security System.
• Majority (83%) agree to use buzzer/siren, information screen and camera to notify the authorized person.
• Majority (67%) agree to implement the Alarm Security System in the lecturers’ room
• Majority (80%) agree that the system should be place at the door.
• Majority (87%) agree that the Alarm Security System able to overcome the robbery problem.
  
  

Week 1 - Project and Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT

1. PROBLEM DEFINITION

• Nowadays, security system is very important to protect University from any source of harm, specifically burglar and fire.
• Many burglars are opportunity offenders, which means they are not going to go out of their way if we have taken steps to make breaking into University compound difficult for them.
• Activated after office hour, ‘Alarm Security System’ is designed to detect intruders and fire in Kulliyyah of Engineering.
• This system will consist of simple alarm system that will trigger a flashing light, siren and buzzer when it detect intruders or fire.
• The system is design to be controlled and managed by Kulliyyah of Engineering only.

2. OBJECTIVES

• To protect University buildings and properties from burglar and fire.
• To detect intruders for Lecturers’ Room and Department Office in Kulliyyah of Engineering.
• To detect fire in Kulliyyah of Engineering compound; Laboratory and Store.
